2022 Recommended Road Maintenance Priorities
 
• The grass and areas surrounding Lake Nia and Lake Imani has been cut and bush-hogged throughout the past year... and will continue!
                           . 
• Lake Nia Dam Maintenance
The trees that have grown on the back of the dam at Lake Nia must be cut, grinded/mulched, and additional red clay must be spread on the back of the dam. Some quotes/estimates have already been received (more are needed). This is an extremely important task and required maintenance.
 
• Grading, deep trenching and gravel on Songhai Way, the main road from the 3-Way Intersection near Lake Nia and the Nature Reserve ... to the Ridgetop. Grading and gravel will continue past Lot 26 to include Phase 4.

• Grading, trenching and gravel on the Phase 4 Road from the concrete at former welcome center above Lake Imani to the Ridgetop.

• Phase 2 Road from Lake Imani to Lot 20, Grading and preparing for electricity trenches and installation.

​

• Phase 7 Road South, just past Harriet Tubman Nature Reserve, right to Lots 81, 154, 144, 180, 73, 72, 72A, 69 to 67B

​

• Phase 7 and Sassafras 2000 Road North, left just past Harriet Tubman Nature Reserve to Lots 77, 80, 132, 134, 136, 138 .... Up to the North Carolina State line

​

• There will be at least 10 Street Lights installed by Tri-State Electric throughout Sassafras, and approximately 100 red reflectors for night and day driving safety placed along the roads and intersections throughout the mountain.

​

• Railroad ties will also be placed along roads with with steep drops on the side!

​

• Another major goal is also the installation of electronic gates at the main entrances to Sassafras Ridge.
